Guest Speaking

Seneca Polytechnic

Toronto, Ontario

Since graduating from Seneca Polytechnic, I've had the pleasure of returning several times to speak with students from the Sustainable Planning & Development program & GIS program about my career.

In February 2024,  I was invited as a Guest Panelist with BeSpatial Ontario's Young Professionals Network to discuss how GIS tools & methods are being used in today's workforce with Seneca students. I loved being able to share multidisciplinary approaches to GIS that are helping our communities make data-informed decisions alongside my fellow panelists, as well as non-traditional pathways for working with GIS as a consultant.

In February 2025, I was invited as a Guest Lecturer for the Art of Public Consultation course to discuss my experience in planning & public engagement. I offered my approach to IAP2-informed public engagement with a foundation in human rights & equity-based practices, as well as the day-to-day differences between engagement in a consultant role vs. working for a municipality.  I shared a similar version of the presentation in July 2023, & enjoyed reflecting on how the industry has changed & stayed the same since then.
