Need a hand?
I bring a sociological, marketing, & service design lens to my work in planning, transforming community pain points into solutions for hamlets, towns, cities, & regions across Southern Ontario 🏙️🏞️📐
As a freelancer, I develop and deliver knowledge tools, training materials & information resources for inclusive placemaking/placekeeping in rural/agricultural communities, mid-sized municipalities, & elsewhere.

What I Do
Rural Engagement & Placemaking Activations
Just because you live in a smaller community doesn't mean you don't deserve interesting projects that feel great to experience, & consultation that makes you feel heard. In fact, you'd probably benefit from a fresh look at your neighbourhood. From collective mapmaking workshops to monthly walking tours, & even public art projects, let's try something new! Why should cities have all the fun?
Zoning & Land Use Research
Doing something to your family home? Looking for a specific permit? You'll need to talk to your local planner. Before you ring up your municipality (which can be pricey!), I'll take a first look at local land use regulations for you & provide advice on what you can & can't do on your property. Flat fees, easy to read memos, & I won't talk your ear off about bylaws, either.
Policy Research & Reports
You want change. That requires data. In addition to desktop research, I'm happy to design surveys, workshops, & street engagements which reach your core audiences & build lasting relationships with the right partners. With your results, I'll prepare academic, practitioner, & public-facing reports that help readers understand why you care & what's in it for them. Are you ready?
Brand Strategy & Digital Media
Does Microsoft have you feeling down? I can help. In addition to a brand refresh, I'm always happy to upgrade your basic PowerPoint into a modern slide deck for your newest community project, turn your event posters into social media campaigns with clear calls to action, guide users through your most elusive ideas, & take the jargon out of dense copy. Will match your energy, too.

Not a Planner's Planner...
Some planners enjoy jargon. Some enjoy politics.
Others are focused on policy, the project, & the ROI.
I'm in it for community.
I design projects that invest in you, your neighbourhood, & your future. Together, we'll take one-stop interactions a step further, using pilot projects to gauge interest, gather data, & create strategies for long-term solutions. Plus, I'll make sure you understand what's happening, & why.
